Writer, director Amit Masurkar’s ‘Newton’ will be releasing in theaters on September 22. The film has Rajkummar Rao of ‘Trapped’, ‘Behen Hogi Teri’, ‘Bareily Ki Barfi’ fame in the lead role. Rao is an actor who has been steadily impressing us with his awe inspiring performances. In ‘Newton’ too he has done the same. The story of ‘Newton’ is truly out of the box. It is an honest attempt to explain a good thing without being preachy with utter simplicity.

Story Of The Movie:

Newton aka Rajkummar Rao plays a government clerk on election duty whose sole purpose is to conduct conflict-free and fair voting in the conflict ridden areas of Central India. He is supported by Pankaj Tripathi (Aatma Singh), a cop administering the Maoist hit region. He is the assistant commander, in charge of Newton and his team’s security. Anjali Patil (Malko) plays a local teacher, a young, educated, tribal woman who joins Newton’s team. She is face of the new age tribals.

Newton desperately tries to get the tribals to exercise their right to vote. He feels, only casting one’s vote, can bring about the major change that we seek. But he has to face lots of hurdles in the form of the anti-establishment Maoist who threaten the tribals to not cast their vote. The police on the other hand, have lost its faith in the concept of free and fair elections, and prefers to stay way from the whole process.

So will Newton be able to bring about the desired change or will he lose heart and give up his idealistic way? All this and many more questions will be answered in the film.

Star Performance:

Rajkummar Rao will definitely steal your heart with his stupendous performance. Pankaj Tripathi is as equally important as Rajkummar he too has given a stellar performance on par with Rao. Anjali Patil is expressive and acts well. manages to shine. Ragubir Yadav too impresses with his acting skill. His punchlines add a funny slice of humour.
