6. MEHR JESSIA

Former Miss India and supermodel Mehr Jessia, also known by her married name Mehr Jessia Rampal, is a well-known figure in the fashion circuit of India. In her heydays, she was one of the topmost models who would demand the highest price to walk the ramp. She has worked with all the leading fashion designers of her time. Currently, Mehr is married to model turned actor Arjun Rampal and co-owns a production house, known as Chasing Ganesha. She, along with her husband, produced the 2006 film ‘I See You’ (2006) under her production company. The film featured Arjun Rampal, Sonali Kulkarni and Boman Irani in important roles.

Born and brought up into a Persian family in Mumbai, Jessia studied at J.B.Vachha School, Mumbai. She first broke onto the scene when she won the Femina Miss India Universe title in 1986 and represented the country in the Miss Universe pageant held the same year. After winning the Miss India Universe crown, there was no looking back for Mehr. She continued working in the fashion industry and soon became a part of the first generation of Indian supermodels like Feroze Gujral, Shyamolie Verma, Madhu Sapre and Anna Bredmeyer.

Before she became a super successful model, Mehr used to like sports, especially swimming and badminton. But after winning the beauty pageant, she had to devote more time to modelling assignments. When she is not working, her focus centres around her sweet and small family which includes her husband Arjun and two daughters, Mahikaa and Myra.
